Point Grey Masters Finish Second and Third in Age Group at the Steveston Ice Breaker 8km Road Race - January 27, 2013Published by
Point Grey Master Bev Barnes ran a 2 minute personal best in 37:58 (chip time). She also finished second in her age group in her first race as a member of the club. Bev's time is a new women's masters club record.
Bev commented on her first race of the Timex Series, “There is some really tough competition in the women’s masters divisions. My focus is to stay consistent with my workouts, push myself outside of my comfort zone for the speed and tempos and treat each workout like it’s my last. That way I know I’ve given it my all.” Master runner Rob Watt finished 3rd in his age group in 31:00. The race was held on his birthday and he has set a new club record in the 50 plus age group. Rob was pleased with his result, "I set a new Personal Best by 1 minute for 8k thanks to the Point Grey TFC training. More training = more PBs." Rob is looking forward to more races in the Timex Series this season.
